Kevin Mattice began in the outfitting business in his late teens in Ontario where he operated black bear hunts which he still does under the authorization of the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources License. He is a professional hunter, and a fisherman as well as being a licensed trapper and commercially licensed pilot.

Kevin came to Quebec in 1980 to assist with the Native cooperative hunting and fishing camps. In 1993, he felt that his time had been well spent in the developmental and training stages of the Inuit and his services would no longer be required. With this in mind he now had time to set up for his own camps in Northern Quebec along with his long time friend and Native partner, Norman Grist. This is something that he had looked forward to for a long time and has never looked back.

High North Outfitting combines over 40 years of outfitting experience in both Ontario as well as Quebec's northern region of Ungava Bay. Together Kevin Mattice and partner Norman Grist have finely tuned the operation to the premier hunting destination in all of Quebec today.
High North Outfitting is presently operating from Fort Chimo, Quebec or what is now becoming better known by its native name, Kuujjuaq. This isolated community is located 1000 air miles north of Montreal and has daily jet service provided by First Air which makes this one time remote village now just a short two hour flight from the hustle and bustle of Montreal's Dorval Airport.

Upon landing in Kuujjuaq, you will be met by our High North Representative who will assist with your transfer from the commercial 727 jet to our awaiting Single Engine Otter which will take you from the float plane base to camp where our staff will be eagerly awaiting your arrival.
